The structures feature a combination of steel frames, light-weight timber framing, and concrete slabs. Suspended slab panels were incorporated within tree protection zones to safeguard the existing mature trees on site, ensuring harmony between the built form and natural surroundings. The result is a refined dual-occupancy project that balances modern living standards with environmental sensitivity and enduring structural quality.
Dual Occupancy at Salisbury Street,
YARRAVILLE
Completed in 2023, this dual occupancy project comprised two double-storey residences designed to deliver modern living with refined structural detailing. The construction incorporated timber and steel framing with brick veneer walls, all supported on a concrete slab. In areas adjacent to existing trees, the slab was founded on concrete piles to ensure protection within designated tree protection zones. A concrete AFS retaining wall was constructed at the rear to accommodate the required site cut and achieve the architectural finished floor levels. The result is a well-balanced and enduring development that integrates practical engineering solutions with contemporary architectural design.

The project involved the construction of three double-storey townhouses accompanied by modifications and extensions to a pre-existing heritage house situated at the forefront of the site. The townhouses, built with block work walls, brick walls, steel frames, and light-weight timber framing, offered contemporary living spaces. The existing heritage house underwent thoughtful alterations and extension, respecting its historical significance while accommodating modern needs. The innovative Speedfloor construction system was used, ensuring swifter and lighter suspended concrete floors. The design brought together various structural elements, including block work walls, steel frames, and light-weight timber frames.
